Jerome Burns

The one and only @jerome.burns.56 🔥 Studiously earning his masters degree in classical trumpet at The Manhattan School of Music nudged Jerome to seek out more… unconventional trumpet experiences. This lofty aspiration manifested in an opportunity to live in The Netherlands and steep in the music of Karlheinz Stockhausen at The Royal Conservatory in The Hague. This intense endeavor lasted two years and culminated in a massive performance of the opera, LICHT, as part of the 2019 Holland Festival. Performing the virtuosic solo role in Michaels Reise um die Erde fulfilled Jerome’s wildest dreams, but left a crater in his heart. Unsure how to come down from such an exciting feat, he shifted his musical focus to the music of Swedish metal pioneers, Meshuggah. He transcribed their blistering guitar solos and found creative ways to perform them on trumpet. He now applies their polyrhythmic motifs to write his own short trumpet compositions, sharing them across social media and inevitably the entire cosmos. Jerome currently lives in his old hometown in Connecticut where he teaches trumpet, performs in local groups, and occasionally finds himself recording ungodly trumpet sounds for avant-garde metal bands. He is also Van Laar artist and performs on his beloved Van Laar B4 Bb trumpet as well as a double belled C trumpet.
